Cage Crusher, also known as a cage mill crusher, is a
high-efficiency impact crushing equipment mainly used to crush medium-hard and brittle materials into fine or ultrafine particles. Its core working part consists of two or more rotating cage-shaped rotors (with multiple hammer bars or impact plates) that crush materials through high-speed impact, shearing, and grinding.
The working process of a Cage Crusher relies on the relative rotation of the inner and outer (or multiple) cage rotors to apply combined forces to materials:
- Feeding: Materials enter the crushing cavity from the top feeding port and fall between the rotating cage rotors.
- Impact crushing: The high-speed rotating cage rotors (rotational speed usually 500–1500 rpm) drive the hammer bars to hit the materials, breaking large particles into smaller ones.
- Secondary grinding: After the initial impact, the materials are further sheared and ground between the gaps of the cage rotors and the fixed liner of the cavity, achieving fine crushing.
- Discharge: The crushed materials that meet the particle size requirement are discharged from the bottom screen or gap; oversized materials are retained in the cavity for repeated crushing until they meet the standard.
- Dual-cage rotor design: Most models adopt inner and outer coaxial rotors that rotate in opposite directions, doubling the impact frequency and improving crushing efficiency.
- Adjustable particle size: The particle size of the finished product can be adjusted by replacing the bottom screen (with different mesh sizes) or changing the gap between the cage rotors.
- Wear-resistant components: The hammer bars, impact plates, and liners of the cage rotors are made of high-hardness materials (such as high-chromium alloy), which have strong wear resistance and long service life.
- Closed crushing cavity: The fully enclosed structure effectively reduces dust leakage and noise pollution, meeting environmental protection requirements.
Cage Crushers are widely used in industries such as mineral processing, building materials, chemicals, and agriculture, mainly for crushing the following materials:
- Mineral materials: Limestone, gypsum, barite, calcite, and other medium-hard non-metallic ores (compressive strength < 150 MPa).
- Industrial wastes: Fly ash, slag, coal gangue, and other industrial solid wastes, which can be crushed and reused as building aggregates.
- Agricultural materials: Dried agricultural wastes (such as straw, peanut shells, and fruit stones) and organic fertilizer raw materials (such as fermented manure blocks), used to prepare fine organic fertilizer particles.
- Chemical materials: Ammonium sulfate, potassium chloride, and other brittle chemical fertilizers, as well as plastic particles and resin blocks (low-temperature brittle materials).
